Fair Seas Website Goes Live

We’ve been working with the folks at Fair Seas for the last few months as they launched their mission. Fair Seas is an Irish based NGO with the goal to protect, conserve and restore Ireland’s marine environment. It’s a new organisation that didn’t have any identity or online presence.

They required a bespoke WordPress theme developed form the ground up that was tailor made for their needs. We created a beautiful and functional website for them that will allow the guys to spread the good word for years to come. The website is very easy eye-catching but simple. It’s light on text but very clear on message. We created a bespoke blog / news experience that will allow Fair Seas to share powerful content and generate support for their cause. Some of the features on the website include :-

  • Fully customised bespoke WordPress theme
  • Bespoke news section
  • Social media sharing on news articles
  • Search functionality
  • Mailchimp newsletter integration
  • Optimised for mobile devices

We’re very proud of the final result, which you can see here.

ToolCheck.ie Goes Live

Today we’re delighted to launch a brand new platform to help prevent tool theft in Ireland & the UK. Toolcheck.ie is the brainchild of a Wicklow based carpenter who himself was the victim of tool theft years ago and had the idea to help combat this problem.

This is a bespoke web application that we designed and built from the ground up on behalf of the client and is a classic example of how our skills can bring your ideas to life.

Check out the website here and the case study here.

Appy New Year!

First of all we’d like to wish a very happy 2020 to all of our clients, friends and anybody reading this blog. 2019 was a great year and we’re excited by upcoming projects in 2020. One of the projects we’re looking forward to in early 2020 is a mobile app for a Gorey based business – and we thought we’d take this opportunity to describe the benefits of an app to your business or organisation.

For the purposes of this article, we will be discussing only native apps here. See our post on the differences between native apps and mobile apps for more context.

Why go bespoke?

WordPress is a very powerful platform for creating and managing websites. When clients come to us looking for help in setting up a website, for 90% of cases WordPress fits the bill (business website with contact forms, blog, online shop etc.). The remainder are in scope for a bespoke solution – their requirements can’t be satisfied with an off the shelf solution like WordPress.

Most web designers can’t facilitate this group as they don’t have the web development skills. See our article here on the differences between web designers and developers. We are both designers and developers which means that we can create something beautiful but has bespoke functionality around your requirements.

Going Native… the differences between native apps and web apps

Since the launch of the first smartphones in 2007 the term ‘app’ has taken off in a huge way and you’d be forgiven for thinking that the term was invented at this time. Apps or applications have been around since the dawn of computing and are essentially programs or software that run and execute functionality. We have been creating applications here in ClearSoft before smartphones saw the light of day.

So when we receive enquiries about app development, the client will normally mean a mobile phone app. Very often we find that they are not aware of web apps and we will talk them through the differences. In this article we will describe native and web apps under the headings below :-

  • Cost
  • Speed
  • Functionality
  • Maintenance / Upgrades
  • Distribution
  • Look and feel

Description

Kinsella Estates is an Estate Agents with offices in Gorey and Carnew. In 2017 they got in touch with us to see if we could improve their efficiency with some of their business processes – namely the property Valuations process.

For many reasons, homeowners will contact auctioneers to value their property. The auctioneer will inspect the property, take photo’s and create a report on the value of the property including details on location, number of rooms, condition of property etc. Typically the details are manually recorded during the inspection by filling out a paper based template with a pen. This information is then taken back to the office where the final report will be generated, photo’s added and emailed to the client.
